These are pictures of Sandra's family and friends!
(under construction)

The story of the nicknames...
Sandra (center) is the eldest of three sisters, with Carol (left) and Debbie (right) being two and six years younger respectively. Apparently they don't call each other by first name, however. Sandra explains, "Our nicknames all come from Debbie. When we were in high school and she was in late elementary/early jr high, she had this knack of coming up with these fun nicknames for us and our friends. I've always been known as Unnee in the family, so she'd call me Unaluna. And then she extended it to Unalunatic, b/c I was and maybe am still a little bit crazy. Carol was Caroletta, which was extended humorously to Caroletta-dog-have-a-bone. Debbie was Dobalinashin (Lynna Shin was a girl in our school). Very cute, very creative. That's Debbie. So anyway, we don't really use those extended nicknames anymore, but use shortened versions (like Letta) or other variations (Lunie from Lunatic). Fun, hunh?"
New! Sohee and Sandra - Tummy Time
Here's Sandra and her college roommate, Sohee, in their 2nd trimesters. You couldn't tell from the picture, but Sohee was actually 3 weeks further along than Sandra. Then again, Elisabeth did end up being over a pound heavier than Abby when they were finally born in the spring!
Sunny and Sandra
This is Sandra eating ice cream with her good friend Sunny. I think they are laughing at me about something. Sunny is a pastor in LA who, along with her parents, were supposed to be the last line of defense and give me a heavy grilling before I could propose to her. To her dismay, Sunny (like her parents) betrayed her, and instead gave me a ringing endorsement with hardly a question. She must truly be a woman of God. That or the hazelnut ice cream seen here that I bribed her with.

As an interesting coincidence, Sunny is good friends with Sue Kim Ahn, the wife of my good buddy Joe (they are both pastors who got to know each other at CKAM meetings) and the same Sue Kim who was talking about the Krispy Kreme donuts. Small world, hunh?
Sandra's Parents
Here is a picture of Sandra with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Won. They are really great, very nice. Mr. Won is a huge soccer fan, easily willing to pull all nighters or fly at a moment's notice to catch World Cup games. It was a huge and meaningful sacrifice, then, for him to make it out to San Diego for the big family meeting when he had tickets to the World Cup. Mrs. Won is similarly very kind and nice, and is my new best friend as she always seems to be advocating for me. Don't underestimate her because she's so quiet and nice though: apparently, she's a pretty tough customer who apparently always beats everyone to the top when mountain-climbing. One of Mr. Won's long-standing requirements before anyone could propose to his daughter, actually, was that the guy be able to beat his wife to the top of a mountain. For some reason, he waived the requirement after meeting me. Sandra was really peeved!
Sandra and Madeline
Madeline Trotman was Sandra's discipler during her years at UVa and the one who introduced her to international student ministry and cultivated a love for God's Word and for discipleship in Sandra through 6am Bible studies, prayer walks, and fun talks meeting together in all the random restaurants of Charlottesville. Happily, she has agreed to read from the Word during the ceremony when Sandra and Dave get married!
John and Karen Shen!
Here's a picture of John and Karen Shen, a couple that Sandra worked in the past several years in international ministry with. Although perhaps initially closer to Karen due to all their heart to hearts in the past, Sandra is now especially grateful to John, as he ended up being the only person in her gauntlet of defenders who actually grilled Dave. "How did you hear your call to medicine?" "How did you know Sandra was the one?" "How do you see your spiritual gifts complementing each other, and what kind of ministry do you foresee the two of you working in?" And so it went for twenty-some minutes. However, if you look closely at the picture, you will notice that Sandra already has her engagement ring on! So, although Sandra felt good about someone finally grilling him, Dave got the last laugh because they were already engaged! Hahahaha!
And now, Mi Yung!
And now let us introduce Mi Yung Park, the woman who started it all! Mi Yung, for those of you who haven't met her, is an insanely loyal friend who pushes you to grow and is also pretty darn fun to be around. You may laugh, you may cry, but you will never, ever be bored!

It's a pretty wild connection how we all met up.
*Dean Park and Dave were friends back in their college.
*Dean (med school), Mi Yung (law school) and Sandra (PhD) were friends at the graduate fellowship at UVA.
*Dean and Dave met at a wedding several years later in San Diego, and introduced Dave and Mi Yung.
*Mi Yung then introduced Sandra and Dave.
Crazy hunh? Maybe we should start playing a six-degrees of separation game... revolving around Mi Yung Park!
