Ok, so what's the story?
[Long Version aka Girls' version]
Sandra and Dave first met on April 26, 2002. They were introduced by a good mutual friend, Mi Yung Park, while Sandra was visiting LA for a wedding. Dave at the time was in San Diego, and he drove up to LA with Mi Yung to both meet Sandra and visit his old friend Steve Chen. The moment they met, Dave KNEW Sandra was the one. As shocked as anyone that "The Conviction" actually exists, he actually clean forgot to ask her for her email. (Again, Mi Yung to the rescue). After praying daily that God would guide their steps and protect their hearts, Dave emailed Sandra and asked if he could call her the following week. She said yes, and on Monday, May 6, 2002, Dave screwed up the courage to simply ask her, "Would you like to have dinner with me on Saturday?" Five days later, Dave flew over to Rhode Island. And, on May 11, 2002, Sandra and Dave went on their first date, which as it turned out wasn't dinner and a movie, but co-leading a retreat for some college seniors from Sandra's church. During a break, Dave invited Sandra for a canoe ride, where he shared to a skeptical Sandra that she was the one. Now Sandra is by nature protective and wary, and would later confess, "I'm amazed I didn't just hit him with the paddle, jump out the boat, and swim for shore for dear life!" But she didn't; instead she heard him out, and though skeptical, was surprised to find that she actually trusted and felt comfortable around him. Moreover, in the next section of the retreat, many of the same things Dave had just finished saying to her about "just knowing" were echoed by the Jumi and Eugene, the couple leading the dating and relationships segment of the retreat. Inspired by this good turn of events, Dave asked Sandra out for a second canoe ride, this time near midnight, where he further confessed thoughts, convictions and sentiments completely new to him but which would again eerily be reiterated at church the following day, both in sermon and verse. In fact, the first verse Sandra and Dave ever read together was Ephesians 5:22-33, which almost directly repeated those same sentiments shared the night before. "I found that veeerrryy interesting," Dave later stated. "Very interesting indeed." States Jim Nelson, Dave's roommate in San Diego, "Sheesh, it's like God was his Wingman on that weekend." He later added, "I knew the date went well, because when I woke up on Monday morning, he was singing hippie love songs." One week later, Sandra flew in to San Diego to visit Mi Yung, her sister Debbie (who was in for a conference), her cousin Max (who was visiting his parents and, coincidentally, has been friends with Dave for almost a decade) and Dave. After a weekend of sailing, karaoke, and Sea World, Sandra found her skepticism waning. And on May 19, 2002, at the Bali Hai restaurant on Shelter Island, Dave asked Sandra to be his girl, and to join in prayer for their relationship. She accepted, and the rest is history, unfolding as we speak!
BREAKING NEWS!!! And on June 14, 2002, David Sohn asked Sandra Won to be his wife, and she said yes! The wedding will be November 9, 2002 in Providence, RI. :)
[Short Version aka Guys' version] Mi Yung set us up. I knew as soon as I met her that she was the one. I got her email, asked her if I could call, then asked her out to dinner. I prayed, flew over, we really connected, and when she flew over the next weekend I asked her to be my girl. She said yes! So, thinking I was on a roll, I asked her to marry me. And she said yes again!
